This is a difficult blog to write. We came to the mountains for the winter and we really do love the white stuff, but we wanted to give you a heads up on how we’re going to be doing things a little different from next year.
In the 10 (YES TEN!) years we’ve been based in Luchon, we’ve noticed big changes in the conditions over winter.
One of our passions is helping you to make the most of your holidays. It’s precious time away from the daily grind and enables you to enjoy adventures with family, friends or just quiet time alone. We want you to have the very best holiday with us and we feel that the snow conditions over the last few years are more variable than ever and have impacted on the quality of your holidays. Very few ski resorts are truly ‘snow sure’ and a lot of Europe has had a dismal winter. The Pyrenees is no exception.
Our local resorts are becoming less and less reliable in terms of snowfall and because of this we’re changing the kind of holiday you can have with us. We’re going to concentrate on Self-Catered and last minute breaks. School Holidays will be mainly Self-Catered, Villa Gracieuse is the perfect spot for multi-generational family get togethers. When the conditions are good we’ll open the Villa on a B&B basis or for a Half-Board stay as we have always done. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the upcoming weather and we’ll release a ‘Powder-Alert’ a week or so before any significant snowfall so you’ll have chance to make travel arrangements if you fancy a few days in the playground here. Remember there are ‘no friends on powder days’ but if you do manage to get a group together then person number 8 comes free.
You can still reserve a winter holiday with us well in advance with a possibility of skiing, just not a ski holiday. This winter we've had plenty of sunshine so our guests and us have still enjoyed the great outdoors.
You can guarantee that our change of thinking will mean that the next 5 years there will be more snow than we can dream of and as I type this, it is actually bucketing it down with huge flakes!
We just want you to have the very best holiday possible when you stay with us, whether it is on skis, two wheels, snowshoes or just walking in our beautiful area.
