The Free Range Chalet is in the stunning spa town of Bagnères-de-Luchon. Surrounded by famous dramatic peaks, it's in the heart of the Pyrenees, and is the ideal base for your mountain holiday.

The Town

Set in the South West of France and the centre of the Pyrenees, Bagnères-de-Luchon truly has something for everyone.

Whether exploring the historic cathedrals and sumptuous markets, enjoying the friendly café culture or relaxing in the natural thermal spa, there's just so much to do.

The Pyrenees

There's just something extra special about this stunning landscape, and we can't wait to share it with you.

In winter the powder here is incredible, and summer mountain activities are varied and exciting. Here in the South of France we have a long summer season for your outdoor pursuits.

Historical

With Neolithic cave drawings and stone circles in the area, Luchon has been on the maps for a while.

The town came to life in the 1800s when fashionable aristocrats, renowned authors and famous figures visited from all over the world. The architecture reflects these affluent beginnings.

Wildlife

It's really unbelievable here – those lucky enough may see one of a very few wild bears in the lush forests.

As well as the many species of birds you'll see just around Villa Gracieuse, there are also a huge variety of birds of prey in the surrounding area too.

Relaxing

In the centre of town you have access to Europe's only natural steam room in a series of underground caves.

There's also an outdoor swimming pool (summer only), a tranquil café culture to enjoy, and day trips to Spain (10km) can also be arranged if it's sedate that you're looking for.

Cuisine

Eating out in The Pyrenees is excellent value for money and there's no shortage of great restaurants and cafés.

Our local food suppliers use many traditional methods, which helps to ensure an amazing (and authentic) quality of fresh and seasonal produce.

Festivals

Like our twin town of Harrogate in Yorkshire, Luchon holds a world class flower festival every August.

Other annual highlights on the calendar are the Jazz, film and TV festivals – in fact, there is something on most weeks to keep everyone entertained.

Tranquility

If you want, you can escape from civilisation in no time at all, even just travelling on foot.

In winter the slopes are so quiet it's like having your own private resort, and during the summer you can hike all day and not see another soul.
