Responsible Travel and Eco Tourism
Take only photos, leave only footprints just about sums it up for us: We are passionate about caring for our beautiful surroundings and want to ensure that they are available and accessible for the generations to come.
Here are just a few of the steps we’ve taken and some of the things we encourage our guests to do:
Reduce
Food miles - we try and use local and seasonal produce and love going to the local market.
Single use plastic - we offer reusable water bottles for our guests and use beeswax wraps to keep your picnics fresh. We buy products that use less plastic wrapping and are looking forward to making use of the new minimal waste supermarket in Luchon. Our bin liners are compostable.
Chemicals - we use green cleaning products and where possible make our own.
Car use - We encourage guests to use public transport to get to us and provide a step by step guide as we know it can be a little daunting using transport systems in a different country. The second Hydrogen powered train is due to be serving Luchon by 2025
Meat, eggs and dairy products - One night per week we offer a completely vegetarian three course meal. We have found some delicious vegan recipes that have made it onto our regular menu, we’re yet to find a better brownie recipe!
Reuse
Plastic containers - plastic packaging is impossible to avoid altogether but we try and reuse as much as possible - we use ice cream tubs to freeze and store food.
Vegetable waste - all veg waste is composted and reused on our veg patch every year.
Seeds - we collect seeds from veg waste to replant.
Recycle
Plastics, cans, paper and glass - are all taken to our local recycling depot, we provide recycling bins in all bedrooms.
Inner tubes - if you are unlucky enough to have a puncture while you are here we collect all used inner tubes to send to a fantastic charity Cycle of Good who recycle them into a number of amazing accessories.
